Yongxing Shen has been a doctoral student since September 2003 in Materials Science and Engineering. His dissertation advisors are Professor David M. Barnett and Professor Peter M. Pinsky. He often attends the Micro and Nano Mechanics Group meetings for free food and for participating in the discussions.

His current research topic is modeling electrostatic force microscopy measurements on fuel cell electrolyte materials, which is funded by the Global Climate and Energy Project.

Yongxing obtained his Bachelors in Engineering Degree from Tsinghua University, Beijing, China.
